Description

This Marble Loaf Cake is a delightful blend of vanilla and chocolate flavors, made with simple ingredients like butter, sugar, and eggs. Perfect for a cozy dessert or a quick treat, it’s easy to make and oh-so-tasty!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2¼ cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1¾ sticks butter (softened at room temperature, 14 tablespoons)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • ⅓ cup heavy cream (or whole milk)
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream (or whole milk)
  • powdered sugar or chocolate ganache

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, and baking powder, then set aside.
  3. Using a hand mixer, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat for 2–3 minutes until pale and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture and heavy cream, alternating between the two, until smooth.
  6. Pour about ⅔ of the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Mix the remaining batter with cocoa powder, an extra tablespoon of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of cream. Spread this chocolate batter over the vanilla layer and swirl together with a knife to create a marble effect.
  7. Bake for 55–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing and cooling completely on a rack. Dust with powdered sugar or top with chocolate ganache before serving.

Notes

Make sure the eggs are at room temperature for best results.
If you prefer a lighter texture, use cake flour instead of all-purpose flour.
The marble effect can be enhanced by swirling the batters more vigorously, but be careful not to over-mix.
