- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the grated garlic and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring frequently until it becomes fragrant.
- Stir in the oregano and crushed red pepper, cooking for an additional minute.
- Once fragrant, add the crushed tomatoes and sugar, reducing the heat to low.
- Allow the sauce to simmer for 20 minutes until it thickens.
- Mix in the butter and season to taste with kosher salt and freshly ground pepper before letting it cool to room temperature.
Notes
For a spicier sauce, increase the amount of crushed red pepper flakes.
