Ingredients
Scale
- 12 whole granny smith apples
- 12 lollipop sticks
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup karo syrup
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate wafers, melted
- 1/2 cup toppings, sprinkles or crushed candy bars
Instructions
- Wash the apples to remove wax by soaking them in a half gallon of water mixed with 1 cup of white vinegar. Dry them completely using a towel.
- Remove the stem from each apple and insert a lollipop stick about 3/4 of the way into the top of the apple.
- Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper and set the prepared apples on top.
Notes
Choose tart apples like granny smith for the best flavor contrast with the sweet caramel.
Experiment with various toppings like crushed nuts or candies for added texture and flavor.
Ensure apples are completely dry before coating to help the caramel adhere better.
