Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (8 ounce) block extra firm tofu, pat dry and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar or white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, optional, for garnish
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce or sweet soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon lime juice, freshly squeezed
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed tofu with soy sauce, sesame oil, and vinegar. Stir until the tofu is evenly coated in the marinade.
- Thread the marinated tofu onto bamboo skewers, spacing them slightly apart, with 4-5 cubes on each skewer.
- Lightly oil a grill pan or large skillet and heat over medium-high for 1-2 minutes until the oil shimmers. Place the skewers in the pan and grill for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden and crispy, basting with the soy sauce marinade occasionally.
- To prepare the peanut dipping sauce, whisk hoisin sauce, peanut butter, water, sesame oil, and lime juice together until smooth. Set aside before serving.
- Once done grilling, sprinkle the skewers with sesame seeds and enjoy immediately with the peanut dipping sauce.
Notes
Feel free to add your favorite vegetables to the skewers for extra flavor and nutrition.
Make sure to pat the tofu dry to ensure it absorbs the marinade effectively.
You can adjust the marinade ingredients to suit your taste.
