Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 5 cups powdered sugar
- 3–4 tablespoons heavy cream
- 8 Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies
Instructions
- In a stand mixer or medium bowl with a handheld mixer, beat the softened butter, cream cheese, and vanilla on medium-high speed for 2-2½ minutes until smooth and fluffy.
- Reduce the speed to medium-low, gradually add the powdered sugar 1 ½ cups at a time, mixing in 1 tablespoon of heavy cream after each addition.
- Continue mixing until the frosting achieves a smooth and creamy consistency.
- Gently fold in the finely crushed Oreos, ensuring there are no large clumps to pipe effectively.
- If not using immediately or if it's warm, refrigerate the frosting until needed.
- Before using, let the frosting sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes, then re-whip for 15-30 seconds.
Notes
Ensure the butter and cream cheese are softened to room temperature for the best mixing results.
Feel free to adjust the amount of heavy cream based on the desired consistency for the frosting.
Store any leftover frosting in the refrigerator and re-whip before use.
