Description

This Easy Chocolate Chip Cake is a delightful treat with its rich chocolate flavor and soft texture. Made with simple ingredients like Greek yogurt and mini chocolate chips, it’s perfect for dessert lovers looking for an easy homemade cake.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup plain whole milk greek yogurt, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup avocado oil, can use canola or vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips, plus extra for sprinkling on top
  • 3 tablespoons turbinado sugar, for sprinkling on top
  • whipped cream or ice cream, for serving, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9-inch round cake pan by greasing it and lining the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, Greek yogurt, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
  3. Add in the flour, baking powder, and salt, and stir gently with a spatula until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Fold in the mini chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, sprinkling extra chocolate chips and turbinado sugar on top.
  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack. Remove the parchment and let it cool completely. Serve plain or with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.

Notes

Ensure the eggs and yogurt are at room temperature for better incorporation into the batter.
You can substitute the avocado oil with canola or vegetable oil based on your preference.
