Description

Savor the delightful layers of Caramel Apple Trifles featuring tender apples, rich caramel sauce, and fluffy Cool Whip—the perfect sweet treat for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 granny smith apples
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 12 ounces pound cake
  • 8 ounces cool whip
  • 6 tablespoons caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the apples into small cubes and toss them into a medium saucepan.
  2. Add the lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar, stirring well.
  3. Let the mixture simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the apples soften and the sugar melts into a syrup.
  4. Set the mixture aside to cool slightly.
  5. Cut the pound cake into bite-sized cubes.
  6. Fill a piping bag with Cool Whip or use a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off.
  7. Begin assembly: layer pound cake cubes at the bottom of serving glasses or jars, followed by a layer of the apple mixture, and a drizzle of caramel sauce.
  8. Pipe a generous layer of Cool Whip over the top of the caramel.
  9. Repeat the layers with pound cake, apples, caramel, and Cool Whip once more.
  10. Finish with a final drizzle of caramel over the top before serving.

Notes

Feel free to substitute the pound cake with your favorite type of cake.
You can prepare the apple mixture ahead of time and store it in the fridge until ready to assemble.
For an even more decadent treat, consider adding chopped nuts or toffee bits to the layers.
