Description

This Butterscotch Sauce brings a delightful and rich flavor to any dessert. Made with simple ingredients like butter, brown sugar, and cream, it’s perfect for drizzling over ice cream or pancakes. Easy to prepare, it’s the ideal topping for your favorite sweet treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 tablespoons (84g) unsalted butter, sliced
  • 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup (118ml) heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, or vanilla bean paste
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the sliced butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the packed brown sugar and heavy whipping cream to the melted butter, stirring until the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Allow the sauce to boil without stirring for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and incorporate the vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Pour the sauce into a jar and let it cool before sealing it with a lid.
  6. As it cools, the sauce will thicken. If refrigerated, it will become a soft solid. Reheat in the microwave for about 30 seconds, stir, and enjoy.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use vanilla bean paste instead of extract.
This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
To use the sauce again, simply reheat it in the microwave before serving.
