Description
This Apple Fritter Bread features a soft dough filled with tart gala apples and warm spices, topped with a sweet glaze. It’s a delightful and easy treat perfect for breakfast or dessert!

- 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2–2 cups gala apples peeled and chopped
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter room temperature
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- ground cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Mix well, breaking up any lumps.
- In a small bowl, stir together melted butter and vanilla. Pour over the dry mixture and toss until crumbly.
- Cover and refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix chopped gala apples with granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
- In another large bowl, cream together room temperature unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the sour cream, milk, and vanilla until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing just until incorporated.
- Fold in the apple mixture gently.
- Pour batter into a greased loaf pan, topping with the refrigerated crumb mixture.
- Bake at 350°F for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Notes
Let the bread cool completely before glazing for the best results.
