Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups oil
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 cups apples, peeled & chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt through whisking.
  3. In a larger bowl, mix together the oil, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until fully incorporated.
  5. Prepare 4 cups of peeled and chopped apples, then gently fold them into the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze by combining butter, brown sugar, regular sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
  8. Stir until the mixture begins to simmer, then remove it from the heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  9. Once the cake is out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over it while it is still warm.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider using different varieties of apples such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
The cake can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
This dessert pairs wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
