- 1 1/2 cups oil
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 4 cups apples, peeled & chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt through whisking.
- In a larger bowl, mix together the oil, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Prepare 4 cups of peeled and chopped apples, then gently fold them into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze by combining butter, brown sugar, regular sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir until the mixture begins to simmer, then remove it from the heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.
- Once the cake is out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over it while it is still warm.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider using different varieties of apples such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
The cake can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
This dessert pairs wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
