Description

This margarita recipe combines añejo tequila with fresh lime and lemon juice for an irresistible flavor. With simple prep and satisfying ingredients, it’s perfect for gatherings or a relaxing evening at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 ounces añejo tequila
  • 1 1/2 ounces homemade sweet and sour mix
  • 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (cointreau or triple sec)
  • 2 cups water (for sweet and sour mix)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for sweet and sour mix)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 57 small limes)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium lemons)

Instructions

  • Simmer water and sugar in a saucepan until dissolved to create sugar syrup. Allow it to cool.
  • Once cooled, stir in fresh lime and lemon juices to make the sweet and sour mix.
  • Prepare the glass by rimming it with lime and dipping it in kosher salt; fill with ice.
  • Shake añejo tequila, the sweet and sour mix, and orange liqueur in a shaker filled with ice until cold.
  • Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over ice and garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

For a sweeter margarita, adjust the sugar in the sweet and sour mix to taste.
Use cracked ice in your glass for slower dilution and a better texture.
Experiment with adding fresh fruit for a fruity twist.
