- 1 1/2 ounces homemade sweet and sour mix
- 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (cointreau or triple sec)
- 2 cups water (for sweet and sour mix)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for sweet and sour mix)
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 5 – 7 small limes)
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium lemons)
Instructions
- Simmer water and sugar in a saucepan until dissolved to create sugar syrup. Allow it to cool.
- Once cooled, stir in fresh lime and lemon juices to make the sweet and sour mix.
- Prepare the glass by rimming it with lime and dipping it in kosher salt; fill with ice.
- Shake añejo tequila, the sweet and sour mix, and orange liqueur in a shaker filled with ice until cold.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
Notes
For a sweeter margarita, adjust the sugar in the sweet and sour mix to taste.
Use cracked ice in your glass for slower dilution and a better texture.
